When Memory Begins to Change
I feel very deeply that memories and stories are sacred and need to be preserved. We need to know where we came from. The line that connects us to the past. We built StoreyKeeper around one simple, urgent truth: the best time to capture a life is while the person living it can still tell it themselves. The memories they carry — the ones nobody else has, the ones that go back to a childhood nobody alive can remember, the ones they’ve never quite found the right moment to tell — those don’t have a backup. There is no second copy.
Our Experience
I’ve found that for many the memories are still there, and if you wait patiently they will come. We take our time setting up, the equipment can be scarry at first but spending a little time together before filming assures those fears fall away. We sit down with you — unhurried, in a comfortable setting, with no script and no rush — and we have a real conversation about their life. Where they came from. Who shaped them. What they loved, what they lost, what they figured out along the way. It’s the interview your family always meant to do. We help you do it before it’s too late.
It may also be helpful to bring in a significant other during filming showing the couple together, something that could be helpful further down the road as the disease progresses and memory fades.
